CHERRYWOOD JOINERY LTD are leading the way in kitchen and joinery solutions and the family-owned and operated business of Richard Childs and his wife Bonnie, has recently moved to larger premises at 11 Potae Ave, Lytton West, Gisborne.
Specialists in hand-made joinery for the home and business, Cherrywood had always been a dream of Richard’s. After coming up with the name Cherrywood, care of his wife Bonnie, Richard established the business in a small premises in 2005.
It soon became apparent from the increasing demand, that a bigger premises would be required.” I built a workshop in Ormond Road and we moved our business there,” said Richard, who undertook commercial projects for a number of prestigious stores throughout Europe including Harrods before moving to New Zealand in 2004. “But again that became too small, and moved to larger premises at Makaraka, and has recently moved to a purpose built facility at 11 Potae Ave, Lytton West. “All our growth comes down to the support of our customers and we thank them for that as it is those people who help keep our dream alive.”
Cherrywood employs a number of staff excluding Richard and Bonnie who are the owner operators. We also believe in investing in the joinery trade and work closely with BCITO (http://bcito.org.nz/) to provide apprenticeships for all age groups to continually develop new skills and maintain a high level of craftsmanship within our business.
Richard said his business was unique for Gisborne and had a number of qualities that set it apart from its competitors. “We make top quality hand crafted products for a reasonable price and put emotion into each and every piece that we make,” he said. “We treat every customer as an individual and work to meet their every need. We offer a five-year warranty and deal with every aspect of the project from the design stage through to installation and maintenance if required”.
